Roof pitch gauge, level and shingle takeoff
Android app, $0.99, one time
Pitch Square opens straight to the gauge. Lay your phone on the roof deck or a rafter and read the pitch as X/12, with degrees and percent grade.
Lay the phone flat on the roof in any direction, or stand it on its long edge along a rafter. It reads X/12, degrees and grade.
Hold freezes the reading so you can pick the phone up. Set zero on a known level surface if your sensor reads a little off.
A light tick at 4/12, 5/12, 6/12 and every other whole pitch, so you don't have to look.
Enter the footprint and the pitch. You get roof area, squares with waste, shingle bundles, underlayment rolls, drip edge and ridge cap.
Flat on a surface you get a round bubble for both directions. On edge it works as a torpedo level.
1/12 through 24/12 with degrees, grade, rafter factor and hip/valley factor. The table highlights your last reading.

Lay the phone on a surface you know is level and tap Set zero. Thick or uneven phone cases can also tilt the reading, so measure with the case off if you can.
Flat works on the roof deck. On edge works along a rafter, a board or a fascia. Both read the same pitch.
Bundles per square, underlayment roll coverage and ridge cap per bundle are all editable in the Materials tab. The app keeps your numbers.
No. Pitch Square asks for no permissions. It reads the motion sensors, which Android doesn't put behind a permission, and it never connects to the internet.
Stay off wet, icy or steep roofs and tie off when you go up. Check the reading with a square before you cut.
Refunds go through the app store you bought it from. The developer can't issue them directly.
